Residence through Financial Independence (FIP) is intended for non-European Union citizens who have a fixed annual income sufficient to cover their living expenses during their stay. The permitted period of residence is 2 years, which can be renewed every 2 years. This permit does not grant access to the job market. According to recent announcements, applicants can apply for permanent residence through this program. The minimum required monthly income is 2,000 euros. If the applicant is accompanied by a family member, the required income increases by 20% for a spouse and 15% for each child. The applicant must prove their income through foreign bank statements, pension from a foreign country, or legally sourced financial assets to demonstrate that they can cover living expenses without working in France for a duration of 2 years. The applicant must deposit the designated amount for 2 years, or 24 months, into their bank account in France.
